Newest Gadget: Microsoft SURFACE Tablet
Last Updated on Thursday, 18 October 2012 12:49 Written by DarkKnightH20 Thursday, 18 October 2012 12:49
This is no normal tablet…No normal notebook…No normal laptop…
That’s pretty much what Microsoft is trying to get across to everybody.
In reality, that’s just them trying to push this $500 product on to people more easily as a better alternative to the Apple iPad and similar devices.
But is it better? Well, there are no specific Microsoft Surface Reviews just yet, as they aren’t released yet (and for that matter, will only be available ONLINE and through the MICROSOFT STORES when the date hits). But there are some previews available for this Windows 8 tablet device.
The good news? The Microsoft SURFACE Tablet is highly polished and beautiful looking. It sports a fantastic keyboard / cover that allows users to type uninhibited at full speed and gives them a mouse to use. The bad news? If you purchase this cover separately, then tack on an additional $120 to the already high price.
Still, high prices aren’t something to be upset about, considering similar Apple Products run at high cost as well. If you are a man or woman of gadgets, then you’ll definitely want this one still.
Here’s a commercial that shows the device, but not its use.
Enjoy the clicking noise of attaching the keyboard and moving the stand!
The screen is 10.6 inches with a 1366 x 768 resolution and it goes without saying that the screen is also multi-touch for your fingers. It would likely work well with a stylus or pen too. The pixel density of the screen is 148 pixels per inch (ppi). This is lower than the iPad’s retina display, which outdoes it at 2048 x 1536 and 264 PPI.
How to Easily Calibrate a Windows 7 / Windows 8 Tablet / Vista Slate
Last Updated on Tuesday, 16 October 2012 08:10 Written by DarkKnightH20 Tuesday, 16 October 2012 07:35
If you have Windows 7, Windows 8, or even Windows Vista, then this is for you! It will likely not work on Windows XP, however.
Whether you have a touch screen Windows slate, or just a normal tablet notebook / laptop, you may run into issues where the accuracy is less than impressive. This in particular is a problem towards the corners and sides of screens. For me personally, it was an issue with the HP Pavilion TX 2000 series (I have the TX2500 / TX2510US), which has an awesome Wacom Digitizer for the Penabled LCD screen.
You will need to calibrate it for both Landscape and Portrait modes.
Go to START -> RUN — tabcal
Done! If that doesn’t help, then try out these predefined calibrations:
Landscape:
tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=5,175,512,849,1062,1275 YGridPts=4,137,300,463,630,796Portrate:
tabcal lincal novalidate XGridPts=4,137,300,463,630,796 YGridPts=5,175,512,849,1062,1275
These helped me to improve the accuracy of my fingers on the screen AND also the accuracy of the stylus / pen. It’s a nice configuration 😉

Android 2.1 Download Leaked – Dell Streak
Last Updated on Monday, 29 December 2014 10:53 Written by DarkKnightH20 Saturday, 14 August 2010 06:15
Android version 2.1 has been leaked on the internet for the Dell Streak tablet. It is available for download in many places throughout the web. I’m sure many are taking advantage of this leak, and putting this premature version on their tablet. Updates WILL be available. This version is for the O2 locked Dell Streak, which is a pretty nice phone / tablet.
You can download the Android 2.1 update for this phone from several mirrors.
MediaFire (MF)
MegaUpload (MU)
So What’s New In Android Update 2.1?
Most notably, they improved the keyboard (great for those who text a lot on this phone), added live wallpapers (makes the phone look even more pretty), and a 720p camcorder (makes the phone even more powerful!).
How to Install?
Download the update from one of the given mirrors above (it is a PKG file). Drag the PKG file to your Streak’s SD card and then rename it to “Update.pkg”. Afterward, reboot the Streak into recovery mode by holding down both volume keys and powering it on. This procedure is VERY simple as you can see.
BE SURE TO BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA BEFORE UPDATING. YOUR TABLET WILL BE WIPED CLEAN. BE CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING ANY UPDATES TO YOUR PHONE AND RESEARCH THE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES.
Also, for those who download from mirrors like the above often, check out this awesome, free Firefox addon — Megaupload MU, Megashares MS, Rapidshare RS, Mediafire MF, DepositFiles DF, Auto CAPTCHA + Auto Download.

Seen the Wind U160 netbook yet? Look familiar?
Brad over at Liliputing was kind enough to post some images of the new netbook, which runs Intel’s new Pineview hardware. At first glance, it’s a good looking netbook. Upon further inspection it looks like the design was clearly inspired by Sony’s Vaio laptops. Check out this Vaio […]
