Volpin Props Take 2: The N7 Hardsuit

So soon after checking up on the M8 Avenger assault rifle, I decided to take a look at that Volpin Props blog again. Turns out he went all the way and built himself a set of the iconic N7 armor that Commander Shepard wears in the game, though not bulletproof and incapable of generating kinetic barriers.

Mass Effect 2 M8 Avenger Assault Rifle Prop

Coming from a site called Volpin Props is a stunning recreation of the M8 Avenger Assault Rifle from Mass Effect 2, also featured in Mass Effect 1 but as a generic model for many kinds of assault rifles from the Hahn-Kedar lines. Built with wood pieces and some scavenged parts and free paint, the total cost? Ends up being around $28.

DIY Portable Nintendo 64: Darth64

A lot of hardware hackers out there like to make old gaming systems into portable ones. Usually they look extremely ghetto and just overall not worth playing. However, this one looks VERY well done. I’m tempted to make one of these myself even though I have an actual N64 hooked up in a room nearby. Anyway, check it out!

Foiling Car Thieves Who Have Your Keys

For you security nuts out there, here’s one for you: if you’re afraid someone might get your keys and steal your car, then you can make and install a simple little grounding switch inside your car that’ll keep the car from starting until you ground the car by touching the little switch.
