At last, Elon Musk tweeted from his account that the Dual Motor and Performance versions of the Model 3 will be ready for order by end of next week. Many reservation holders delayed their orders for these features. On a sad note, it appears that the Air Suspension found on the Model S and X will not be available for the Performance Edition of the Model 3 until next year at best.

I will be interested to see what the 0-60 times are on the dual motor and performance models respectively, as well as the range gain/loss. Stay tuned for updates in the future and for a future comparison between the Model 3 Dual Motor and Model S Dual Motor.

Tesla released a fun two-minute video detailing its various ongoing efforts. With this video, lots of hints and easter eggs were dropped. Let’s go through them now.

What’s under the covers?! Model Y or a Model S refresh?

Tesla has hinted that they have been working on the Model Y. That being said, Elon said that they are in the early design stages and have not spent a “significant amount of money” on it yet. This could lead some to believe that this is a Model S refresh. The Model S has been largely unchanged since it debuted in 2012, aside from the removal of the front fascia and some interior tweaks. It is certainly overdue and competition in this segment is starting to heat up.

Renown Chip Maker Jim Keller Joins Intel

Famous Chip Maker Jim Keller has made his rounds through the tech community and is continuing his pattern of building great products and leaving to start a new project.

Jim Keller will now be serving as Vice President of Intel’s Silicon Engineering Group where he will be working on SoC development. Prior to joining Intel, Jim Keller was the Vice President of Autopilot for Tesla Motors, where he focused on creating low-voltage hardware for the Tesla lineup.

Mr. Keller is also credited for his work at AMD where he created AMD’s Zen architecture and SoCs for Apple. We suggest reading more about Jim Keller here
