So as some of you are aware, I purchased the new MacBook pro 5.1. It is a sexy machine. Now I never thought about this previously, but I’d like to compare this model to my previous one, the MacBook Pro 4.1. Starting with the MacBook Pro 4.1:
MacBook Pro 4.1:
CPU – intel i7 620M 2.66 Ghtz Arrandale with 4 MB on-chip L3 cache
Scored a 2786 on the passmark benchmark test
GPU – nVidia GeForce GT 330M with 512MB of GDDR3 SDRAM
Scored a 489 on the G3D Benchmark Test
RAM – 4 GB of 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM
Screen – 15″
Storage – 500GB @ 5400 rpm
So that was my first mac, not a bad first impression… until…
MacBook Pro 5.1:
CPU – Intel i7 2720QM 2.2 Ghtz Sandy Bridge with 6 MB on-chip L3 cache
Scored a 7186 on the passmark benchmark test
GPU – AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1 GB GDDR5 SDRAM
Scored a 1119 on the G3D Benchmark Test
RAM – 4GB of 1333 MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM
Screen – 15″
Storage – 750GB @ 5400 rpm
Pretty damn good lads! Well this time I was smart enough to use Boot Camp to put Windows on the machine, so I can enjoy the PC Games outside of work.
Chinese Knockoff Apple Store

Yes… in China there is now knockoffs of the entire Apple Store!
According to BirdAbroad, there are several fake Apple Stores in China that look completely like a real Apple Store.
What is even more suprising is that the store and everything is so close to being real, that even the employees believed that they were working for Apple.

Apple Malware Infection Rates Rapidly Increasing
Last Updated on Friday, 20 May 2011 02:01 Written by Naota Friday, 20 May 2011 01:22
You thought you were safe Mac Users? You thought wrong! Malware rates have been increasing at a dramatic rate. This has been unprescented in the Mac World. Hide your iPod, hide your iPhone and hide your Mac Book because they are infecting everyone in here!
According to many Apple Store Employees, there has been a dramatic influx in malware infections on the Mac OSX Systems. Users have been getting tricked into installing “Mac Defender” and “Mac Security” when in fact these programs are malware under the guise of being helpful. Windows users are already well aware of these “tricks”, but this is very new in the OSX World.
The unfortunate part about this problem, is that it is not covered in Apple Care, though most employees will still be willing to help sort out your problem… for now at least. According to ZNET, Apple Employees have been told to not confirm or deny the fact that there is now Malware. They have been instructed to stay away from removing the malware and to guide users to purchase antivirus software. You can find the full leaked email by clicking the photo below.

Dispite being anti-Apple and a guy, I would so get this.
Here’s a brief description:
“The iBangle is a thin piece of aluminum (of course) with a multi-touch track pad. To achieve the perfect fit, a cushion inside the ring inflates to keep itself taught against your wrist. Unisex? Maybe.”
