Real Life FPS Simulator

real-life-fps-simulator

I remember when I was a kid and saw all these movies of what the year 2000 would look like. There were flying cars, advanced computers, and of course, virtual reality games. Recently an FPS simulator was made. Although its no virtual reality, it certainly is a step in the right direction.

It detects user movement and you can even get shot by paintballs! Enjoy the video above.

I hope to see more advanced implementations of this in the future.

This is some really cool virtual gaming technology. You feel the weight of items you carry in game, you can look around, and even hold real weapons. This is by creators of the Novint Falcon — another cool gaming device. Here is the XIO prototype, which of course is NOT released yet:

And here is the Novint Falcon game controller, which IS available. This is a nice review about how it works well with Crysis and comes with a nice Pistol Grip:

Cool stuff, huh?

Review: Alpha Protocol (PC)

Review: Alpha Protocol

System: PC (also available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3)

Release Date: June 1st, 2010 on all systems

Format: 2-Disc DVD, Steam Digital Download, Blu-ray

I tend to be a fan of the secret agent genre, more the Bourne side portrayal of the story rather than the Bond side (although Casino Royale was a fantastic reboot and earns its place in my undying love for great movies). CIA open literature on the subject is fantastically entertaining if but for the dickery that goes on in the trade. I watch Burn Notice whenever it’s available. So I have to say, I was looking forward to Alpha Protocol for a while since its announcement in 2008.

Was it worth waiting? Not entirely.
