Many beta testers of Windows 7 and downloaders of the infamous windows update KB971033, have had an unfortunate surprise. Windows 7 has been restarting itself hourly or near-hourly. Do not fret, here at Geekmontage we take care of our users.
Below I have carefully outlined the various methods for ending the Windows 7 Timebomb / hourly reboots.
Method 1: Open notepad and paste the following code in, saving the file as “all files” on file type and type in “timebomb.bat” as the file name and save. Then run it.
@echo off

Now reboot!
Method 2: You can use Hazar’s RemoveWat 2.25 to eliminate the timebomb. The link takes you to Google where you can easily find it.
Method 3: You can use timenuke to disable the time bomb as well. The link also takes you to Google where you can easily find it.
When I uninstall this update KB971033, my Windows 7 is not restart every 2 hours??? thnx
Thanks for the info. For your interest Method 1 claims that I do not have Windows 7 ! Thats news to me and probably microsoft.
My computer doesn’t seem to restart as often as it was, but I am still having problems with it restarting after it’s been on for a long time (without me touching it). I ran the 7Loader, WAT 2.2.5, and last but not least… I deleted and hid the update KB971033. That update seemed to solve the problem because I let my computer sit to see if it would restart on it’s own and I was all excited thinking, “Yaay! It’s fixed.” To my dismay, later on I noticed that it was back at the Windows 7 Logon Screen 🙁 I’m trying to find something in the Event Viewer that might be the cause… perhaps it’s this: Event ID 10010
The server {28DD3979-0566-4ED3-9B14-1548B3187491} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
Any help would gladly be appreciated… Thanks.
it said that i’m not even on windows 7 :SS
If it says that, delete the lines:
reg QUERY “HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion” /v “ProductName” | findstr /i “7” >nul
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO OSERROR
From it, save it, and try again. This way it will not check your version.
