The Notorious Counterfeiter
Last Updated on Monday, 31 August 2009 07:00 Written by DarkKnightH20 Monday, 31 August 2009 07:00
I’m sure this article is going to be less-informative on how to make this fake money than some of you would like (lol juice!), but that’s just too bad. Anyway, this person made over 7 million USD using ink-jet printers–
Between November 2008 and May 2009, Albert Talton and his three co-conspirators were convicted of “forging or selling counterfeit obligations of the United States.” Talton was sentenced to nine years and two months in prison. The Secret Service put the total of all currency printed by Talton and successfully passed through March 2009 at $6,798,900—ultimately, both Talton and the authorities acknowledged that the sum was higher. “They agreed to keep it under 7 million,” Talton says. “I had bills out there after that—and then those weren’t even just the hundreds.” By the time Talton was arrested, his money had been circulated in every state in the nation and in nine foreign countries. Of all the phony currency that was confiscated, four examples will be filed in the steel drawers of the Specimen Vault. The rest will be burned by the Secret Service—all but four more bills. In his office in the U.S. courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, Mack Jenkins explains that he and his fellow prosecutor, Mark Williams, are awaiting delivery of two paired examples of Talton’s best work—a twenty and a hundred. These will be mounted and framed as souvenirs.
“So we will have our own,” Jenkins says. “It will be stamped COUNTERFEIT on the back, but it will be up on our walls.”
Williams smiles. “If we ever need some Popeyes,” he says, “we’ll crack the plaque and go buy some chicken.”

Last Updated on Monday, 31 August 2009 05:53 Written by Naota Monday, 31 August 2009 05:53
MSN China is giving away a free 6-month license key of Kaspersky Anti-virus 2010. For more information, visit MSN’s Chinese Website. Although its not in English, don’t worry. The steps are clearly outlined. Just click step 1, login to your Microsoft Hotmail or Live Account. After login in you will be taken to a page where you will receive a key. Go ahead and use that to activate your copy of Kaspersky. Don’t have Kaspersky? Visit their website for a free trial that can be activated.
Note: This may have expired. Other people have said that it has to be edited so you must now install the chinese version (which can be changed to english in the registry) to get it to work.

Disney Buys Marvel
Last Updated on Monday, 31 August 2009 01:08 Written by Wrathie Monday, 31 August 2009 01:08
The Walt Disney Co. is going to by Marvel Entertainment Inc. for about $4 Billion in cash and stock, according to Yahoo.com. Most of the character, approximately 5000 of them, will transfer over. This includes many of Stan Lee’s creations such as Spiderman and X-men.
Disney has said that this merger will benefit Marvel, as it will help them in the global distribution process as well as friendly relationships with distributors in selling Marvel based products. Disney also hopes to benefit in improving its allure to young males, as it usual market appeals more towards girls (Hannah Montana, The Jonas Bros.). Another possibly team up is the production of Marvel based Pixar films, as Pixar films in general turn out to have a big draw in movie revenue.
Marvel currently has deals with other movie studios, that Disney will honor if the transaction goes through. (For example, Iron Man 2 will be released by Viacom’s Paramount Pictures in 2010; Spiderman 4 will be released by Sony’s Columbia Pictures in 2011).
The board of directors of both companies have agreed to the transaction. It still needs approval from the majority of Marvel’s stockholders, as well clear an antitrust review before it can be officially settled. The deal should be closed by the end of the year.

Editor’s Note: Personally, I think this deal can go either way. It might piss off many people, but there could be potential in this deal that would make Disney even more lucrative. Nevertheless, we can all agree that the mighty Disney Corporation has gotten all the more powerful. Voice your opinions in the comments below.
