For those who use it, have you guys ever noticed the stuff that gets installed along with AOL Instant Messenger? I mean the things like weatherbug, and wildtangent games? or just annoying blinking ads that pop up and play sounds when you wheel over them or opens your browser that was closed with 10 million tabs you had open because you accidently clicked on one?
What is this sh*t?
Well, no worries, because some generous programmer(s) got tired of them too, and made a handy little program others need to just double click to get rid of the extra luggage.
Without further adieu, the program name itself is “AIM AD Hack”
Its homepage is http://www.aimadhack.net/, but it seems to be down so using a simple search brought me to find the file hosted at GeekSMACK along with many other sites.
As for MSN users, there is a little add-on that makes the messenger so much more useful, while getting rid of the advertisements from Microsoft. It’s called “A-Patch” and can be found on their download page[A-Patch].
There’s another handy little customization-oriented program called “MSN Plus! Live” and can be downloaded from their download page[MSN Plus!].
Any other messenger such as YIM or Google’s probably has advertisements as well, but since I’m not using them myself, I have not gone out to find the advertisement removal patches for them. However, YOU can! Using Google! <- Click it, no really!
Note: Information for educational purposes only; on computer security
I use AIM 5.5 with a DLL file that I manually edited. Ads removed ^_^
Thats cuz you’re too pro. This is for the people who programmers try to make foolproof programs for.
