Hi, and you've been lazered.

Your new lord and master

mua hahahahaha

Greetings from servbot_kill! I’m the newest member of this blog of geek news and information, some of it practical, most of it often not (but it’s too cool for you to care).

Anyways, my realms of interest are, besides technology, world news and events that change the game, so to speak. But obviously, technology is the big game-changer nowadays, no matter where it’s employed. Just to keep things interesting though, for today, let’s keep it in the realm of things that go boom. Or zap.

Like in this case: Boeing’s Advanced Tactical Laser, surface-pointing brother to the Airborne Laser designed to intercept potential missile attacks (and similarly slung on the underbelly of a modified C-130 Hercules), underwent a longer test in the first week of September against a full ground target. It uses the same Chemical Oxygen-Iodine Laser technology in the Airborne Laser. Reports are that it successfully engaged and, well, I would guess melted the target to piles of twisted and deformed metal, since obviously details of the damage won’t be released to the public for a damn long while (reasons of confidentiality in that you kinda want this to be a surprise to the first guy you char crispy).

I’m disappointed this came out at the time it did… it may have come too late for inclusion in Modern Warfare 2, if we’re to see another repeat AC-130 section like in its fantastic forebear.

Oh, shut it. You know you wanted to use this too. =)
