Feelin the urge to conquer? Well, then this will definitely feed the warmonger in you: Take-Two announced Sid Meier’s Civilization V today, and that series developer Firaxis will be back to develop it. It is expected that the game will be released some time this fall.
Some new features that is touted in this new installment:
- A new hexagonal tile system that will greatly enhance the strategy system, create more realistic game play, and visually enhances the landscape of the world for players to explore
- A new Civ engine that will bring you closer to the Civilization experience, with fully animated leaders that interact with he player in a diplomatic scene, and will include them speaking their native tongues for the first time.
- A new combat system will be revealed in the game, as you can now launch ranged attacks enabling you to attack behind your front lines

If you want to learn more about the new Civ game, go to Civilization.com. And for those who love social networking, there will be a Civilization game for Facebook entitled Sid Meier’s Civilization Network. The game is already in development and the beta for the game should hit by the summer.
Editor’s Note:This is great news! I just started to get into the Civ games, thanks to both Naota and DarkknightH20. Civ IV was a really great game, and it is exciting to hear that they’ll upgrade upon that to make it even better. I just hope the game is easier for first time users, since I accidentally invaded the land of Foose on my first try…
