A Case of Life Imitating Art

a-case-of-life-imitating-art

In one of the most incongruous comparisons of intelligence and standing (and miserably reminiscent of SNL’s Celebrity Jeopardy skits), CNN’s Wolf Blitzer loses miserably to Andy Richter, co-host of the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

It could just be the nature of their careers– Blitzer works in an area where new information is being constantly updated and there’s little need to hang onto anything in memory, whereas Richter constantly leafs through various publications to get material for comedy routines. Still, it just goes to show that the jokers in your group may in fact be the smartest bastards out of all of you. They just stimulate an emotion that people don’t really think about stimulating all that often– laughter.

Prank Call Like a Pro – Bluffmycall

So I came across this awesome website today while speaking with my friend.  This website is called Bluff My Call and it allows you to call other people but mask your number as any number you want.

I was able to call my girlfriend and make it show up as her sister on her caller id.  It’s funny because when she picked up the phone, she started speaking Korean since she always talks to her sister in Korean. Boy was she in for a surprise. =)

View Websites as Google

view-websites-as-google

Using this online tool you can view websites under Google’s user-agent. This is different than the user-agent add-on for Firefox that I posted because you don’t install a thing. The Firefox add-on is more powerful, however, because you can add any user-agents that you want, switch between them instantly, you keep the user-agent until you switch back (opposed to the above web page that only views one page), and it’s just more flexible. You may be wondering “what purpose does this serve?” Well, some forums do not allow for unregistered users to view posts. Some of these forums will allow Google (and other search engines) to view these posts despite this, so that the search engines can pick up keywords and help spread the forum’s URL in search results. This is easily taken advantage of as you can see. Anyway, enjoy.

Cuil

cuil

Cool how cuil stands for knowledge right? the people at cuil.com sure think so.

What is cuil? Why, it’s a fairly recent new search engine developed by some of the original team members that created Google. Promising to not keep any user data while you use this search engine, it can search up to about 3 times (you can calculate it) as many sources as Google. Unfortunately though, its results aren’t always relevant, though homepage looks real cuil.

Stradivarius! Outdone!

Or so the article from ScienceDaily claims as it reports on a new application of biotechnology promising to make the legendary sound of the exceedingly rare Stradivarius pieces available to one and all. Using what, you ask?

Fungus.
