Ridley seems like the normal monster villain you’d find in any game, and yet happens to surprise you. While seemingly a mindless beast, he is very cunning and smart, proving the old adage: “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.

He is the de facto leader of the Space Pirates, a group of raiders and pillagers that destroy anything in their sites. His leadership, lead them to attack a space colony know as K-2L, in which he killed and destroyed everything their. It is in this action, he receives the personal hatred of the main protagonist in Metroid series, Samus Aran. While he was eventually defeated, it didn’t stop him from coming back. Like all great villains, he always seemed to come back better and stronger: Robot Ridley, Meta Ridley, Omega Ridley, Resurrected Ridley, Ridley-X etc. No form is the same, but his vulnerabilities to missiles always seems to stay with him. Trying to hit him would more luck than skill, unless you were a specfic space bounty hunter…

Ridley is truly an interesting creature, one of both the smarts of a geek and strength of a juggernaut. His own achievement may wane compared to others, but his ruthlessness and cunning are the driving force in naming hims VotM. He is the ruthless Commander of the Space Pirates.
