I just bought the SOG Flash II.
Let me just say that this is an amazing knife.
The blade was super sharp coming out of the box (it easily passed the shaving arm hair test… I have a patch missing from my thick arm hair now). I haven’t had a chance to really test the serrated part of the blade, but they seem like they’d work well.
The blade has no movement at all, neither vertical or left or right. It is as solid as a rock.
The clip is great, no part of the knife shows above the pocket.. It comes up a bit above the knife, preventing it from showing. I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to reverse the clip, though, since it’s embedded in the knife. I’m sure I’ll either figure it out or not worry about it since it’s not a huge deal.
The assisted opening feature is great. It opens lightning fast, and I can’t even go back to my old knife (which didn’t have assisted opening) after only a few days of having the knife. You only have to move the thumbscrews a bit to get it to kick in, unless your hands are in the way.
The locking system is very easy to use and I actually like it a lot more than my previous lockback knife. I don’t like the safety, since it’s more of a pain than it’s worth. A video I watched said that you can superglue it, so I might end up doing that.
The knife looks gigantic compared to my old 3 inch knife. This is 3.5, but it seems like it’s HUGE.
As for specs:
SirSunkist’s Old Post, Not DarkKnightH20’s
That knife is a mere sideshow compared to my Cutco hunting knife, which has served by my side for almost 2 years. *touches blade with thumb* ouch… still sharp.
but nothing more than a blade *drops*
Glad to hear your order went well!
Foose, your hunting knife is nothing compared to my samurai sword. Traditionally made.
