Lou Albino, known for his stint in the WWE as a wrestler/manager, but was also know throughout game-dom as Mario in the “Super Mario Bros Super Show”, has passed away on October 14, 2009. He was 76 years old.
He was known the wrestling world as “Captain Lou Albino”, a manager in the World Wide Wresting Federation (known as World Wresting Entertainment today), who managed over 50 wrestlers and was know for his persona and promos. His gained a wider audience by being part of the Rock n’ Wrestling Connection, as he feud (kayfabe, which means only real in the wrestling world) with singer Cyndi Lauper. He would then go into acting, and one of his gigs was that of Mario in the “Super Mario Bros Super Show”.
Later, he went into semi-retirement, promoting wrestling events and making appearance. In 2005, he suffered a serious heart attack, and that was the beginning of his declining health. He passed away on natural causes in hospice care. We would like to reflect our sympathies to his family.
A crazy but likable figure in the wrestling and gaming world, he will be missed.
Let’s all do the Mario for him.
