Some services I occasionally need have an annoying policy of not having an option for a single month. So what I do is start the membership and cancel it the next day. That way I avoid them recharging me the next month.
In case anyone actually wonders what I mean, take a look at newshosting.com and see the various options they have. They all autorenew each month. But they are actually quite reasonable about it.
