how-to-fix-battlefield-3-bf3-game-errors

BOOM! It’s that time again. The time for providing gaming oriented advice in the form of a guide to solve issues that sprung up when gaming. We call them…game fixes. This particular flavor is a nice Battlefield 3 Game Fixes blend! EA / DICE have done a nice job on this BF3 version for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC…and it’s only a matter of time before it’s available on Steam for easy downloading.

Note that there are some problems that were in the earlier beta version of the game that are still here:

Battlefield 3 Keybindings Broken
BF3 Lags / Stuttering
Game Fails to Launch / Black Screen
Game Stuck On Initializing

And many, many more. Follow our nice troubleshooting guide to help combat them! And, of course, enjoy playing the game 😉

  2. Comments  asd   |  Saturday, 29 October 2011 at 12:16 PM

    Initializing… (Campaign)
Joining server… (Quick match / Server browser)

    Nothing happens.

    Geforce GTX 570
    12GB 1600Mhz
    i7 950 3,06Ghz
    Asrock x58 Extreme 3

    Intel SSD x25-m 80GB
    2TB Samsung Ecogreen

I’ve reinstalled, formatted, started with admin rights, tried chrome, firefox, IE, done memtest without errors, restarted origin, killed bf3.exe in tskmgr, restarted pc, restarted pc, etc etc etc. it….. REFUSE to work.

    Any ideas?

same thing was happening to me. it showed initializing then nothing happened. so what i did was i downloaded the most recent new of my graphics card driver and downloaded microsoft framework 4 (i already had it installed so i ran it in repair mode). restarted my pc and the game started working!

    I’ve got the same problem.
    Will not get past “initializing….”

    I’ve tried:
    Chrome, Firefox…nothing
    Reinstalling the whole game…nothing
    Reinstalling to different locations….nothing
    Restarted the PC…nothing

Game is fully upto date, drivers ALL up to date…still nothing

    Graphics card is a GTX580Ti
    Windows 64-bit ultimate.

I’m getting sick of wasting time on this game. This is pathetic, in fact I think in Australia it’s against the law to knowingly sell a piece of shit and piss off the customer….
Whoever was in charge of beta testing this should be sacked!

Same, at the instruction of 4 EA tech support chat Advisors, I:

Reinstalled 3 times, once in safe mode
Did a complete reinstall of all my nVidia drivers and software twice, once in safe mode
Lowered my factory Overclocked GPU to factory clocks
Ran it as admin, in compatability as far back as XP
Cleared my temp files, closed all my existing processes

    STILL HANGS AT INITIALIZING.

    i5 2500k
    MSI GTX570
    ASRock Z68 Extreme4
    8GB Dual-Channel RAM
    W7 64-Bit SP1

Fuck DICE, fuck EA, I had the same problem with the Beta, I should have known better than to trust them to deliver a quality product. I just want to PLAY the game I PAID for. Can’t even play Singleplayer cause of this Origin > Battlelog > Game Bullshit.

What happened to the good days of buy game, install game, click .exe, play game. Fuck.

    Any more ideas…?

My BF3 worked fine for the first day, then has refused to run since then. I log in to Origin fine, log in to Battlelog fine, click ANY mode button (Quick Match, server browser, campaign, etc.), and the little game window in the corner pops up and runs through its paces until it gets to Initializing, at which point a decidedly blank BF3 window comes up and then does nothing. I have to alt-tab back to the desktop and quit the process, which is usually using close to 100% cpu at that point.

What’s especially frustrating is that absolutely NOTHING about my computer changed from the one day the game worked to the next day when it stopped: no new installs, no hardware changes, no driver changes, nothing. The game just suddenly decided it didn’t want to run any more. WTH.

I’ve tried every freaking solution I’ve been able to find… Repaired the game through Origin, reinstalled the game, reinstalled Origin, reinstalled GeForce drivers, set the Origin and BF3 exe’s to run as Admin or in Windows 7 compatibility mode, already run Win7 in classic non-Aero mode, tried Origin in offline mode, underclocked my videocard, reinstalled MS Framework 4, and so on. Nothing has worked.

I’m running Windows 7 64-bit, a 560 Ti with the most recent 285.62 drivers, and an Intel Core2 Duo @ 3000 mhz. Any more ideas as to what this @$^&@% problem is and possible fixes?? Getting incredibly frustrated here…

    Fixed mine!

1.Open Windows Event Viewer (Type it in start search)
    2. Try to launch BF3.
    3. Click refresh in WEV after BF3’s done it’s thing.
    4. Look for little red exclamation mark symbols in the top middle field of WEV.
    6. These will tell you what application tried to launch and what went wrong.
    5. Click on each of the BF3 ones and it should tell you what went wrong in each case.
    6. Sort that out.

For me, it was a .dll file belonging Spybot S+D, an anti-spyware program. Solution? Uninstall Spybot, BF3 runs without a hitch. Be warned, your mileage may vary depending on what the problem is.

^ Didn’t help, BF3 still doesn’t get past the Initializing/blank window stage, and no errors show up in the Event Viewer.

Hi guys, was having problems as above, and then i remembered seeing something about the Installation folder name.. if it is Battlefield 3 (TM) .. rename folder removing the small TM .. that solved the problem for me, hope that helps some of you out there.

    Origin = Lame…

  13. Comments  Matt (xkbub)   |  Saturday, 26 November 2011 at 2:20 PM

I had that bullshit initializing problem and IT WAS XFIRE DOING THAT. Event Viewer pointed it to Xfire so I killed it and it WORKS.

I read above when RShovel said to use WEV (Windows Event Viewer), he said that once he deleted spybot (his anit-virus) it started working. I use avast anti-virus, and after I deleted it and restarted the game ran. Worth a shot, check that your anti-virus isn’t causing the problem.

  15. Comments  sam   |  Thursday, 15 March 2012 at 1:47 PM

i dont knw how to use WEV.. I opened it but i dont knw how to open bf3 and hw to fix it…help me plzzzzzz

  16. Comments  Anonymous   |  Saturday, 17 March 2012 at 3:14 PM

I see in WEV that the bf3.exe didn’t start, but i can’t see the reason why it didn’t start. It said the bf3.exe was damage or something. so i deleted bf3.exe and let origin repair bf3. but i get the same problem again… BF3 crash at initializing… On multiplayer, co-op and campaign. I updated my NVIDIA drivers. Re-installed BF3, Punkbuster and origin. Nothing works… And i tried something in command prompt. Someone on the official bf3 forum told to do that. but also didn’t work.

Other suggestions to solve the problem?
I played bf3 before, but since 3 days ago it crashed and didn’t work anymore…

    Please help! thanks

Same here, origin updated and now i am stuck at joining server, what a complete epic fail on the release of the most eagerly awaited FPS for years. If EA dont fix this by the end of the week im getting a refund~!

this worked for me didnt get past initializing
    Step 1
navigate to your program files folder in the windows explorer. Find the folder program files (for x64 systems the x86 program files). Navigate to the folder that says “Battlelog Web Plugins”

    step 2
Rename that folder to “Battlelog Web Plugins old” I like to do this incase something fails……

    step 3
Close down origin and the internet explorer or etc. and re open the multiplayer of bf3. It will prompt you to download the plugins again.

    Grtz Serial

Still not working for me. I’ve been trying for a while now. As soon as the launcher gets to initialising, the bf3 window opens, but then shuts. No error message. Everything stops.

I have tried everything on this page. Still nothing. Just told EA to go Fuck themselves…………

hey guys i fix that problem..
im going to help you guys step by step and please passed it on…
main problem why your game wont start is cause you have a bad cloud save file in origin… so this is what i did.

    1:go to my documents.

2: go inside the battlefield 3 folder and delete settings
    .
3: go to origin and on the left top click on origin and pick Go Offline

4:start the game up, you will be inside the game for sure, once your in it go to setting and put the graphics to low and save settings and close game.

5:go back to origin and go back online.

6:start the game up, its going to say that the cloud file didnt match with the one you have in their system. PLease pick the bottom one forgot that it said.

7: enjoy the game and leave a post if this help 🙂
