Why hello to you too

I’d like to introduce myself here as Enki, which is actually a new name I choose but that’s besides the point. A little about myself, I’m very much into the computing industry and games, so I’ll be working to post up snippets of tech tips to interesting stuff found over the web that everyone should enjoy.

To kick start things off, security tech tip for XP users:
This precaution mainly to prevent someone with physical access to your PC to decrypt your password from stealing a hash file.

Change the registry key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\nolmhash equal to the value 1. The value change keeps your computer from storing the hash file in the first place.

[If you don’t know how to open up your registry, then I suggest that you do not try this]

I mentioned LM hashes in the “Securing Your Computer” text B) It linked out to Microsoft’s website for directions on disabling it, but now it links to your post instead.
