PC Game Fixes: Football Manager 2011 – Crashes, Lag, Black Screen, Errors, Freezes

Football Manager 2011 Game Fixes

The Football Manager series is very addicting for those who love football…And who doesn’t love soccer? It’s fun to play and fun to watch. There’s no mind blowing new stuff in this version compared to the previous versions, but it’s just as fun if not more so.

PC game fixes may in fact be needed for this though so get prepared to troubleshoot some of your problems by following our Mac and PC game fixes guide! These game fixes are simple so follow our game solutions to get your game running as it should in no time at all!

Make note of the below section, which is labeled as “Important Directories”. For most PC game fixes, you must alter specific files rather than tweak in-game options, thus it’s important to know the location of these files. The paths may be different depending on if the game was obtained through Steam or retail, as well as depending on what operating system is used.

Important Directories

Steam Versions:
C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\Common\\Football Manager 2011\\
Retail Versions:
C:\\Program Files\\Sports Interactive\\Football Manager 2011\\

Windows XP:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\USERNAME\\Application Data\\Sports Interactive\\Football Manager 2011\\Settings
Windows 7 / Vista:
C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\AppData\\Roaming\\Sports Interactive\\Football Manager 2011\\Settings

(Replace USERNAME with your username)

Note: If the given path is not available in all cases, then it is possible that the folders are marked as HIDDEN. You will need to enable “show hidden files, folders, and drives” through Folder Options -> View.

“This application has failed to start because saAuditMD.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem”

1) Download saAuditMD.zip
2) Place the DLL in your Football Manager 2011 directory mentioned above. This directory may be different if you got the game through Steam or through retail, so choose the correct path accordingly.

“This application has failed to start because saAuditMT2005.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix the problem”

1) Download the same file as above (if you do not have it)
2) Make a copy of the DLL and rename it as sAuditMT2005.dll, then place it in the Football Manager 2011 directory mentioned above. If you got the game through Steam, then put it in the corresponding Steam directory mentioned above

Activator Crashes When Trying to Make New Account on Byteshield

1) Verify that your firewall is turned off
2) Right click Setup.exe -> Preferences -> and verify that admin rights is selected.
This *should* fix the crashing.

Black Screen

— Disable 3D Match Engine
— Update your video / graphics card drivers
— Update DirectX
— Right click your game’s exe and set compatibility to Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Football Manager 2011 PC :: FM.exe application error. The application has failed to initialize correctly (0xC0150002)

This error may be caused by either DirectX or through Microsoft’s .NET Framework. Install the latest versions / patches / service packs of both to try to solve this problem. Also note that when you do in fact install or upgrade your Microsoft .NET framework or DirectX, that you make sure to have Steam and any other game closed to avoid a Error S1001. It is reported the the install will be corrupted if such things are left open.

d3dx9_41.dll Not Found

— Download the file from Here and add the DLL to your game directory where the EXE is
— If that doesn’t work, update your DirectX

Invalid Token XML parsing error

1) Rename the SETTINGS folder that is mentioned in the Directories section of this game fixes page to “SETTINGSBAK”, then try running the game again. Note that your data may be lost through this method. If that is the case, simply rename SETTINGSBAK to its original name.

“Football Manager 2011 has stopped working” (Game Fails to Launch)

1) Verify your game cache through Steam and make sure your DirectX is up-to-date

“Not well-formed (invalid token) at line 1 of last_saved_game.xml”

— Try defragging your computer
— Perform check disk / error-checking by right clicking your hard drive -> Properties -> Tools -> Under “Error-Checking” click “Check Now”, then check “Automatically fix file system errors” and “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors”, then hit Start

Error checking will likely require a computer restart and may take awhile, so be patient.

“Not well informed (invalid token) at line 1 of profile”

Unfortunately, one of your profiles (or more) are likely corrupted.

1) On Windows XP navigate to
C:\\Documents and Settings\\USERNAME\\Application Data\\Sports Interactive\\Football Manager 2011\\
1b) On Windows Vista or 7, navigate to
C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\AppData\\Roaming\\Sports Interactive\\Football Manager 2011\\Settings

(Replace USERNAME with your username)

2) Rename the “cache” folder to “cacheBAK” (note that this folder may be hidden, unhide it using the directions at the top of the page)

1) Go to System Preferences -> MobileMe -> iDisk and hit the “Stop” button

Yeah your suggestions for the “not well formed (invalid token) at line 1 of last_saved_game.xml” do not work! I spent hours using Chkdsk and Defragging my system! Just thought you should know that that theory is wrong
