- Amazon confirms Kindle books more popular than print
Until e-readers got popular the question of where to read came down to PC/laptop screen or printed book. Now it’s screen, book, or e-paper. The screen or book question usually saw the book win due to your eyes getting tired quickly reading from a backlit display. That problem was even worse back in the days [...]
- AppleCare reps told not to attempt malware removal
Long protected by the non-practice of security by obscurity, Apple users recently joined the unfortunate, unwary legions targeted by fakeAV malware. As cybercriminals had previously discovered on Windows, it’s far easier to trick users into installing a malicious application than wasting precious effort coding a more complex virus or worm. While some pundits scoffed at [...]

One of the most fun games ever created was The Witcher 1, and now that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has been released, people get the opportunity to import their previously saved data from the original game and continue their adventure in the new tale that is the Witcher II. With this great release, we felt obligated to assist those in need of help with possible game errors they may encounter, such as: lag, freezing, crashing to desktop, black screen, fail / failure to launch, mouse sensitivity issues, Steam problems, etc.

- Anti-DRM group wants to send Nintendo bricks to protest 3DS terms of service
The Terms of Service (TOS) agreement that you agree to when you turn on a Nintendo 3DS isn’t something most people flip through. After all, you’ve already paid for the thing, and you want to play. The anti-DRM group Defective by Design has read it though, and are concerned enough about what it contains that [...]
- Virtual dressing room uses Kinect and augmented reality, makes shopping even easier
If you’ve seen the movie Clueless that came out back in 1995, you might remember the main character’s computer-programmed closet that showed the character in different outfits on a touch-activated screen. She’d scroll through articles of clothing until she found exactly the right outfit without ever having to try it on first. Fast forward 16 [...]

In reference to a post Enki made a little while ago, here’s another web-based text “hacking” exercise. Telehack is a full recreation of the Internet circa 1985-ish when it was still ARPANET, featuring fully working BASIC interpreter and lists of hosts available at the time. It even has copies of BBS networks and their contents at the time. Don’t bother trying to add to it though, it’s only a historical record. Still fascinating to read what’s on there though and compare to what it looks like now. FYI still combing the records for lists of Soviet nuclear secrets… no luck so far.

NVIDIA has finally acknowledged their wrong-doings with the GTX 590. The GTX 590 Version 2 will hit the shelves in June. This revision will contain higher quality inductors that will prevent the GTX 590 from blowing up when stressed and over clocked. There are no details on what will happen to the current GTX 590 holders though, but things probably won’t go your way. The GTX 590 will contain a -502 marking that will show that identify that it is these revised edition. You will also notice that the GTX 590 -502 has a new baseplate and shape that is different from the original. Expect all new third party solutions for this card.
